About the Mountain Laurel Gallery
Chuck Wheeler, the owner of Mountain Laurel Gallery comes
from generations of family who loved owning their own business. “When I was growing up in rural,
north-central Maryland, my grandfather was the proprietor of a country store that had been in the family
for generations,” he says. “Retail is in my blood, and it is particularly rewarding to
represent and promote creative American Craftsmen.”
Located on the corner of Washington and Fairfax Streets in
the resort town of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, Mountain
Laurel Gallery offers a unique collection of handcrafted, high quality,
contemporary American crafts. The 2,500 square foot gallery spans two floors and six rooms, and represents over
150 local, regional and national artists from across the United States and Canada. Its first floor collection includes
designer jewelry, glass, wood, metal, home décor and fine art. The gallery’s second floor offers
a boutique of women’s fashion and accessories, representing American and
Canadian designers of clothing, hats, bags, scarves, and more.
Celebrating its tenth anniversary year, Mountain Laurel has
been recognized by Niche Magazine as a Top 100 Retailer of American Craft. “We pride ourselves in building
solid, long-term business partnerships with the studios we represent,”
says Wheeler. “In addition,
each year we try to introduce 10 to 20 new studios to maintain freshness and
uniqueness in our collection.”
